CHRISTOPHER W. MCGEE
Since the early 1990’s I’ve lived and worked in the Buffalo/Western New York area. I’ve shown my art at many well known local artist organizations such as Hallwalls, Big Orbit, and Squeaky Wheel.
In 1991 I received my B.F.A degree from the School of Visual Arts. I spent my first semester in their cartooning program before switching to the much more physical and liberating medium of experimental painting.
During this same time period, I worked at the Alternative Museum (a gallery for socio-political art where I helped assemble shows for great artists such as Sue Coe and Peter Dean.
The combination of these experiences helped me to develop my own unique art style. My pictures are narrative and figurative but also abstract and experimental. They are expressionistic and personal but often cast a darkly humorous light on the human condition.

I‘ve lived in Buffalo since early 90’s. I’ve shown my artwork at many different venues such as Hallwalls, Big Orbit, Squeaky Wheel, and Gallery 164.

I received a B.F.A. degree in painting from the School of Visual art in 1991. I spent the first semester in their cartooning program before abruptly switching to a crash course in making messy, experimental, hypermodern disasterpieces. During this time I was an intern at the Alternative Museum (a sociopolitical gallery); where I helped put up shows by great artists such as Sue Coe and Peter Dean. The combination of these experiences helped me to develop my own art style. My new artwork plunders, juxtaposes, dissects deciphers many aspects of the social, natural and psychological world; revealing the weirdness inside normal everyday life.

Objective:       To constantly improve my art work by exploring and inventing new media and formats, expanding into new environments and obtaining new audiences.
